It seemed like such a masculine creature, until I gave it eyelashes.

Marbling
Carla Sonheim posted a tutorial on her BLOG on how to marble on water with fingernail polish. Here’s the link http://www.carlasonheim.com/marbling-with-nail-polish/. She makes it look so easy! I didn’t have such great luck. The polish dried on the water pretty much immediately and I was unable to get it to swirl around much. And, once it dried, the polish is flaking off the paper. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong.

Imaginary Creatures, Class 4
Day three of Carla Sonheim’s “Imaginary Creatures” online art class.
These are the “scribble with intention” drawings.
And more. I was drawing from the book “Diving in the Indian Ocean”, consultant Jack Jackson. It has some wonderful pictures.
This is coming along nicely. I especially like that red.
Imaginary Creatures, Day 3
Day three of Carla Sonheim’s “Imaginary Creatures” online art class.
Just some textures from in and around my home.
This is a “line and smudge” drawing.
This is a “side only” drawing of the same teddy bear. Have I said how much I don’t like working with charcoal? It’s just too messy for my tastes. I like the results, but I swear that charcoal gets on everything!
Carla gave hints on how to get to a point where we could see figures on the paint. I had the figure running, but had to mess with it some more to get what it was running from.
Imaginary Creatures, Day 2
Imaginary Creatures, Day One
I’ve been wanting to take Carla Sonheim’s Imaginary Creatures class for a number of years now. This last time she offered it, was on my vacation, so I finally got to take it!
Part of the lesson was to do continuous line drawings. I did PAGES of them. Too much fun!
Here’s an elephant.
The last part of the lesson was with water color paint and pencil.
