Imaginary Creatures, Day 3

Day three of Carla Sonheim’s “Imaginary Creatures” online art class.

scan0044Just some textures from in and around my home.

100_3300This is a “line and smudge” drawing.

100_3305This is a “side only” drawing of the same teddy bear. Have I said how much I don’t like working with charcoal? It’s just too messy for my tastes. I like the results, but I swear that charcoal gets on everything!

scan0042Carla gave hints on how to get to a point where we could see figures on the paint. I had the figure running, but had to mess with it some more to get what it was running from.

scan0041Had to mess with this one, too. But, I like the results.

Red, Yellow, Orange, and Blue Fingernail Polish

Fingernail Polish #2 I had to go buy fingernail polish in blue, red, yellow, and orange so that I’d have more colors to play with. With this one, I dropped drops of color on the side and used wax paper to smear it from left to right. Layers and layers of color. Eventually, I was painting stripes on the side to smear. I really like the way the colors blended.

Fingernail Polish #2, sideThis is a side view, that hopefully shows the sheen of the polish.

Oops into art

Fingernail Polish #1When I made the knots posted earlier on this BLOG, I used pink fingernail polish to stiffen up the ends of the cord. A drop of polish fell on the paper I had under my work. I grabbed a tissue to wipe it up and got a smear. Of course. I was about to throw out the paper, but I just looked at it. Then, I went and grabbed the light pink and bronze polish that I have and started playing. This is what I got. Kind of interesting, I think.
