Another Skinner Blend
Carol Blackburn’s book, “Making Polymer Clay Beads” showed how to make a Skinner blend. I realized that it was different from the one I posted on July 18, as it shows the starting colors much better in the final product.
I like Carol’s Skinner blend much better.
Mixing Polymer Clay
These are all various colors mixed with red,
yellow,
and blue.
Basics
My mom gave me a book titled “Making Polymer Clay Beads”, by Carol Blackburn. This is a great book! I decided to go back to basics by making a lot of the items in this book. I don’t have the supplies or tools to make everything, but I will make what I can.
Logs, snakes, and strings.
A sheet.
These are very basic shapes and are building blocks for many different beads.
Skinner Blend
I decided to dive back into working with polymer clay. It’s been years, so I’m starting with techniques. This is the start of a Skinner Blend.
This is the finished Skinner Blend. The red really overpowers the blue.
Polymer Clay in Green
Next color is green. Tried something new. The ones on the bottom row are kinda cool, but the color change is lost. Still, I like this one.
Pink Polymer Squares
This is the next set. Much better. Still needs work, though.
Blue Canes
This is an experiment. I’d like to figure out a way to keep the lines straight and the corners at right angles. I have some ideas. I think I need some practice reducing the canes. It sure lost it’s design in the smaller pieces.
Polymer Clay Face
This is the last face for that class on Joggles.com. That class was just too much fun!
I’m taking another online class from Joggles.com. This one is polymer clay cane faces. The teacher is Layl McDill. She’s great, very upbeat and helpful.
So far, we’ve made very simple cartoon-like faces, as seen in the top picture. Also, a little more difficult face, as seen on the bottom. We are currently working on a more complex face. When it is finished, I’ll post that one, too.
